Tips for Traveling with your Pet

“Animals are such agreeable friends; they ask no questions, they pass no criticisms.” – George Eliot

Tips for Traveling with Pets

Anyone with pets can surely agree with novelist, George Eliot that animals make for great companions, especially when it comes to traveling.

If you are planning on traveling with your furry friend this summer, make sure you are prepared before you hit the road. From snacks, to safety, we’ve have the top five tips for traveling with your pet that you don’t want to miss!

1. Visit the vet. Before you travel with your pet, whether on the road or in the sky, it’s always a good idea to make sure they have had a recent check-up and are up-to-date on shots. If you haven’t already done so, be sure you call your veterinarian today to schedule your pet’s next appointment.

2. Keep your pet secure. Did you know? Each year hundreds of pets are injured or even killed because they were not properly restrained while riding in cars, trucks, SUVs and RVs. If you plan to road trip in your new Chevy with your pet this summer, make sure you have a vehicle pet barrier, pet seat belt, car seat or a travel crate.

3. Pet identification. In the event that your beloved pet runs away while you’re traveling, make sure he or she has some form of identification on them. Whether an ID tag on your pet’s collar or even a microchip, having some sort of identification is essential! Also, be sure to bring along a picture of your furry friend so that others may help you find your pet companion in case of an unfortunate event.

4. Don’t forget treats and toy. When packing for your pet, always make sure that along with an ample supply of your pet’s food that you bring along treats and toys, too. It is never a good idea to abruptly change your pet’s diet, especially during traveling, so familiar food, treats and toys are a must. Other pet supplies to consider bringing include your pet’s bed, grooming supplies, and any necessary medications – just to name a few.

5. Enjoy the ride. Whether or not you are traveling along with your pet or bringing your pet along for a family vacation, don’t forget to enjoy the simple things. Enjoy your journey in your new Chevy Equinox or Chevy Silverado and allow time to stop at sight-seeing opportunities along the way. If traveling with your furry friend, research possible parks to stop at along your road trip and make the most of your trip!

As with any road trip it’s always  a good idea to create a checklist of items you will need to pack, along with a planned and back-up route in case of any detours. Double check your list before you hit the road and enjoy your vacation with your pet companion.

Safe travels wherever the road takes you this summer!

Eco-Friendly Chevy Vehicles

“We’re committed to finding and developing new solutions every day to meet the growing demand for better fuel economy without every sacrificing performance.” – Chevrolet

2014 Chevy Spark

From electric cars, to hybrids and fuel efficient vehicles, Chevrolet has been consistently leading the way for eco-friendly automobiles. Most recently, the Chevrolet Spark was recognized as the ACEEE[i] individual winner for the subcompact hatchback class as the most practical and affordable ‘green’ choice.

Why Eco-Friendly

Besides the obvious fact that eco-friendly vehicles are better for the environment, these vehicles can also help drivers save time and money.

Eco-friendly vehicles, including electric, hybrid and fuel efficient models provide a cost-effective way to improve overall energy efficiency, while reducing carbon emissions. Since these energy efficient vehicles provide drivers with higher MPG, that means less time spent at the pump and more time on the road.

Chevrolet Eco-Friendly Models

The Chevrolet automakers have released a variety of eco-friendly models, including fuel efficient cars and trucks, electric cars and hybrids.

When it comes to fuel efficient vehicles, Chevy has a lineup that includes the Chevy Cruze Eco, Chevy Malibu Eco, Chevy Sonic Hatchback and Chevy Equinox. Fuel economy ranges from 30-42 MPG highway.

If you’re looking for an electric car, the Chevy Volt is a full-performance electric vehicle that has the ability to run on gas when necessary. When fully charged, the Volt has an electric range of 35 miles, gas-free. For longer trips, the Volt can go up to 375 miles, transitioning from all-electric to gas-powered.

Hybrid models produced by Chevy included the Chevy Silverado Hybrid and Chevy Tahoe Hybrid. The Silverado Hybrid is America’s first two-mode hybrid full-size pickup, while the Tahoe Hybrid is America’s first full-size SUV hybrid.

The Chevrolet Siverado Hybrid and Tahoe Hybrid both come standard with 20 MPG city and 23 highway, maximizing power with efficiency.

Chevrolet Sweeps Awards at the American International Auto Show

Chevrolet delivered an outstanding showcase at the 2014 North American International Auto Show and won the crowd’s attention with the new Corvette Stingray and Silverado which were awarded car and truck of the year. This marks the first time Chevrolet has won both awards in the same year. The Corvette was last named car of the year in 1998 while the Silverado was last named truck of the year in 2007. The big win for Chevrolet also meant a big win for domestic automakers, keeping them at the number one spot in the automotive industry. Domestic Automakers have won North American Car of the year 12 times while Japanese, European and Korean automakers have won nine times combined. Similarly, domestic automakers have also won truck of the year seven times more than Japanese and European automakers combined.

More than 5,000 journalists from over 60 countries attended the North American International Auto Show this year and only 49 multi-media journalists from USA and Canada chose the winners. The Corvette Stingray swept the car of the year award beating the new Cadillac CTS and the new Mazda3 compact.

Chevrolet Corvette
It is no surprise the new Corvette won the crowd’s attention considering its consistency in delivering outstanding performance driven features and futuristic technological characteristics. Improved features on the Corvette include the new aluminum-intensive chassis structure, which is 57 percent stiffer and 99 pounds lighter than the previous generation, and a re-designed spacious cabin. Corvette took a big leap forward and committed to creating not only a performance driven sports car but one that is also driven by beauty, comfort and safety.

Chevy Stingray

Chevrolet Silverado
The win for the Silverado was due to its re-designed structure and, improved interior and exterior appearance. The Silverado benefited from weight reduction from a redesigned exterior trim and a lighter but more powerful fuel efficient new 6.2-liter V8 engine. In addition to its spacious four-door spacious cab, the Silverado offers a two-door standard cab and an extended cab with a smaller rear seat and doors. This powerful truck has a towing capacity of 9,800 pounds and is capable of maneuvering through curves and steep surfaces. To top it off, the interior is superior in its class in terms of styling, quality, comfort and safety features.

Chevy Silverado

The Car and Truck of the year By Chevrolet serve as a benchmark for other vehicles in similar segments in terms of creativity, innovation, style, comfort and most importantly, safety. The Corvette and the Silverado are a true depiction of Chevy’s commitment and dedication to transforming the over 100 year’s old brand into the next generation of futuristic and innovative cars.
